Two checks you can do right now, free.

No sign-up and no OTP, and nothing you type is stored. Both run on the government's own published lists.

01

Is the name on the UGC fake list?

The UGC publishes a list of institutions that are not universities at all, whatever the signboard says. This is the one check nobody should skip.

Fake university check

Against the UGC's own published list. One field, one answer, no sign-up.

We do not store what you type. This runs entirely in your browser.

02

Is it a recognised university?

Search all 1,318 universities on the UGC's own list. See the entry number, the date it was recognised, whether it is state, private, central or deemed, and the NIRF 2025 rank where there is one.

Every figure on that page belongs to a government body and the source is linked. We add nothing of our own to it.

Cannot find a name there? That is not proof of anything. Colleges affiliated to a university, and the IITs and NITs, sit on different registers. Send us the name and we will check the right one.

Browse by course

Looking for a course, not a college name?

Every institution the government ranked in NIRF 2025, grouped by what you want to study. The order is the Ministry of Education's, not ours, which is why nobody can buy a place on these lists.

Most families do not arrive with a college name. They arrive with a course, a city and a budget. Start there and we will do the finding.

Paisa Jaancho

Check the money before you pay the fee.

The government runs scholarships on the National Scholarship Portal and collateral-free education loans through PM Vidyalaxmi, and every state has its own scholarship portal. Each scheme has its own conditions and deadlines, and most of the information is only in English. We check which scheme and which loan your child is eligible for, and we charge you nothing for it.

Why CollegeJaancho exists

Check first, then trust. Including us.

I served in the Indian Army, where I was awarded a Commendation Card. After that I read law, completed an MBA in Human Resources and Operations, and finished a Master of Management in Marketing at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, where I received the University's 2025 Distinguished Graduate Award.

There is only one reason I set all of that out: you can check every bit of it yourself. The proof and the registration numbers are on our Trust Centre page.

Questions people actually ask

What families ask us before they trust us.

What is CollegeJaancho?

CollegeJaancho (also written College Jaancho) is an admission guidance service for Indian students and parents. It checks a college against public record before a family commits money to it, helps with the admission itself, and helps with documents. A Jaancho Report runs eight checks: regulator recognition, the UGC list of fake universities, NAAC and NIRF, the gap between the advertised fee and the total payable, what a scholarship actually requires, placement claims against disclosed data, hostel and facility claims, and a conversation with a verified current student where one is available. Every fact carries its source and the date it was checked, and where a fact could not be verified the report says so instead of filling the gap. Document help covers degree and marksheet verification, transcripts, migration certificates, duplicates and corrections. CollegeJaancho is a unit of Youth Skill India Pvt. Ltd., Delhi.

Is CollegeJaancho free for students and parents?

Checking a college and admission help are free: ₹0 is charged to any student or parent for them. There is no sign-up, no account and no OTP.

How do I check whether a college is fake?

Use the free checker on this page. It matches the name against the UGC's own state-wise list of fake universities, which names institutions that have no authority to award a degree whatever the signboard says. It runs entirely in the browser, nothing typed into it is stored, and there is no sign-up. A clear result is only the first of the checks though: a name absent from the fake list still has to appear on the UGC's list of recognised universities, which is a separate document and is searchable on this site as well.

Who runs CollegeJaancho?

CollegeJaancho is a unit of Youth Skill India Private Limited, incorporated on 20 April 2021 with the Registrar of Companies, Delhi, CIN U80903DL2021PTC380358. Vinod Sharma is its Director and the founder of CollegeJaancho: a veteran of the Indian Army awarded a Commendation Card, LL.B., MBA in Human Resources and Operations, and a Master of Management in Marketing from the University of Auckland. Seven registration numbers, each checkable on the issuing authority's own portal, are listed on the Trust Centre page.

What does CollegeJaancho not do?

It holds no accreditation that grades or ranks colleges, and states plainly that no such accreditation exists in India. It promises no student an admission, a seat, a scholarship or a placement, because every admission decision belongs to the institution. It does not print scholarship amounts or income limits, because those are revised every session and a stale figure misleads a family.
