Found in the UGC listSharda University appears in the University Grants Commission's consolidated list of universities, at entry 935, under Uttar Pradesh, described as a Private University, with the date 24.03.2009 against it.
A private university is established by an Act of the state legislature. It can award its own degrees. This is a different route from a deemed university or a central university, and none of the three is automatically better than the others.

Ranked, and the number is publicIn the government's own India Rankings 2025, Sharda University holds rank 87 in the University category, with a score of 49.00. NIRF is run by the Ministry of Education, and its rank lists are published in full, so anyone can look up the same number.
A NIRF rank measures things like teaching resources, research output, graduation outcomes and perception. It is not a measure of what your particular course will be like.

Both records published belowOn its own website the university states that it holds an A+ grade from NAAC. That page does not state the CGPA score, the accreditation cycle, or the date the grade was declared.
NAAC publishes its own list of institutions holding a valid accreditation. On that list, as on 14 August 2025, this institution appears as follows. The address on the NAAC record, Plot 32-34, Knowledge Park III, Greater Noida, Gautam Buddha Nagar, 201310, matches the campus, and only one Sharda University appears on the list.

Both records are set out above exactly as each source states them, and we draw no conclusion from them. We are not saying the university is wrong, and we are not confirming either figure against the other. Two things a reader should weigh: NAAC's file carries an as-on date of 14 August 2025, so anything decided after that date would not appear in it, and a grade can be revised. If the university holds a more recent NAAC record, it can write to us from an official address and we will update this page.
What the NAAC record does add is the date of declaration, 17 January 2023. A NAAC grade is not permanent. It is awarded for a fixed term and has to be renewed, so the declaration date is the number a family paying four years of fees actually needs, and it is the one the university's own page does not give.
One thing has changed since most grades on brochures were awarded, and it matters here. NAAC stopped accepting fresh applications under the old graded framework on 30 June 2024 and moved to Binary Accreditation, which records only whether an institution is Accredited or Not Accredited. Existing grades stay valid until they expire. So an A+ quoted today was awarded under the older system, and the date it runs out is the number to ask for, not the letter.

The real fee picture
Programme fee is not the full feeThe university does publish its extra charges, which is more than many institutions do. But they sit on separate pages from the programme fee, so a family reading only the course fee page will not see them.
Published as additional to the programme fee:
- Admission fee: ₹30,000, one time, stated as non-refundable
- Examination fee: ₹6,000 per semester
- Registration fee: ₹15,000 per year, from the second year onwards
- Alumni contribution: ₹1,500 in the final year
- Hostel and transport: charged separately, on their own pages
Added up over a four year programme, and before any hostel or transport, those published extras come to roughly ₹1,24,500: ₹30,000 admission, ₹48,000 examination across eight semesters, ₹45,000 registration across three years, and ₹1,500 alumni.
We are not saying this is hidden. We are saying it is spread across pages, and a family should add it to the number in the brochure before deciding what this actually costs.

Published in detail, three conditions decide itSharda publishes a long scholarship page with the actual slabs in it, which is more than many universities do. The tables are there and anyone can read them. What a family should notice are three conditions written around those tables.
One. The same marks pay different amounts, depending on the date you apply. Every merit table has three columns, Gold, Silver and Bronze. The page defines those three words in a single footnote, and the definition is a deadline: Gold up to 15 June, Silver till 15 July, Bronze till 30 July. So for B.Tech, a student with 86 to 89.99 per cent gets a 40 per cent waiver as Gold and 20 per cent as Bronze. Same student, same marks, half the money, because of the date the form went in. The top slab, 95 per cent and above, is 100 per cent in all three columns, so this only bites in the middle slabs, which is where most students sit.
Two. Keeping it in later years needs 8.00 CGPA. The page states the continuation bar plainly: minimum 8.00 CGPA and 75 per cent attendance, with no backlog, and that academic performance is the sole criterion. It also says the number of scholarships in the second and later years follows a continuation policy, awarded down a school-wise merit list. A first-year waiver is not a four-year waiver, and a family planning four years of money should assume the full fee from year two until the university confirms otherwise in writing.
Three. It comes off tuition only. The page states the scholarship is awarded on tuition fee only. Read alongside check 5, that means the roughly ₹1,24,500 of admission, examination, registration and alumni charges is payable even by a student holding a 100 per cent scholarship, and hostel and transport sit outside it too.
Two smaller notes. The detailed continuation policy is stated as due on the website by 31 December, which is after most families have paid the admission fee, so ask for it in writing before you pay rather than waiting for it. And the page's own record of scholarships actually granted runs from 2014-15 to 2020-21, so there is no published count of how many students received or retained a scholarship in the last five years.
And this is not the only scholarship you can hold. A university waiver sits on top of whatever the government gives you. Sharda is in Uttar Pradesh, so a student here can normally apply on the UP Scholarship and Fee Reimbursement portal as well as on the National Scholarship Portal for the central schemes. Both are free. We have listed every central scheme and every state portal on one page: government scholarships you can actually apply for.
Before paying any admission fee, ask the university for its institute code on the National Scholarship Portal. Without an active code the university cannot verify a government scholarship application, and the application fails there regardless of how eligible the student is.
None of this is hidden and we are not saying it is. We are saying it is spread across one long page in footnotes, and the deadline in particular is easy to miss while a family is still deciding.

- What is your institute code on the National Scholarship Portal, is it active, and who is your scholarship nodal officer?
- If I am offered a scholarship: which slab am I in, what is the last date to hold that slab, what exactly must I score and attend to keep it in years two to four, and what will I pay if I fall below that bar?

It is the gap between the number a family plans around and the number it actually pays, which is the reason the fee check exists.
