Where the numbers come from
Everything below is somebody else's record.
The recognition below is the UGC's and the rank is NIRF's.
The UGC record
Andhra University appears at entry 5 on the UGC's consolidated list of universities, the list as published on 25.01.2023 It has been recognised since 1926. It is recorded there as a state university in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
NIRF 2025
NIRF publishes a separate ranking for each field. It prints individual ranks and scores only for the top of each table, and lists the institutions placed below them as a rank band such as 101-150, alphabetically and without scores, on a separate page. Andhra University is recorded with a numbered rank in University and Overall and in a rank band for Innovation (11-50).
This page prints only the placements CollegeJaancho has matched to the UGC record by name and state, as read from NIRF's pages on 7 October 2026. A table that is not shown here is not a statement that Andhra University is absent from it, and not being placed in a table is never a mark against an institution.
Its strongest position is University, at rank 23 of the 100 institutions that table lists, where the highest score was 85.05 against this one's 59.20.
On the same UGC list, Andhra Pradesh holds 54 universities, and at least 12 of them are placed in NIRF 2025, at a numbered rank or in a rank band. This is one of those.
NAAC accreditation
NAAC publishes its own list of institutions holding a valid accreditation. On that list, as on 14 August 2025, this institution is recorded as follows.
| Name on the NAAC list | ANDHRA UNIVERSITY |
|---|---|
| AISHE code | U-0006 |
| Grade | A++ |
| CGPA | 3.74 |
| Cycle | 4 |
| Date of declaration | 9 November 2023 |
A NAAC grade is not permanent. It is awarded for a fixed term and has to be renewed, so the date of declaration above is the figure a family paying several years of fees actually needs, and it is the one a brochure rarely carries. We print the record as NAAC states it and draw no conclusion from it. If the institution holds a more recent record, it can write to us and we will update this page.

Each filing above is a PDF the institution itself sent to the government. Under Sanctioned (Approved) Intake it carries the real seat numbers for every programme across six years, with student strength, faculty count and expenditure beside them. If anybody promises you a seat, the promise has to fit inside those numbers.
Four things this page cannot settle
A record is a starting point, not a verdict.
Recognition and rank say nothing about what your family pays or what your degree is worth. Each of these has its own page, written once and kept current.
The state portal for Andhra Pradesh, and the central schemes, are listed on our government scholarships page, and every other university in the state is on the Andhra Pradesh page.
